This half term our Christian Value is FRIENDSHIP and our Skill for Life is COLLABORATION.

Welcome

We are a happy, family school with strong Christian values. We all work together to promote a love of learning where children succeed and reach their full potential. We hope you enjoy your visit.Hanley Swan Primary School is part of the Hanley and Upton Educational Trust

Science

Science:

This week the children could either continue to help in the garden naming plant, flowers and trees. They can observe plants as they grow and plant their own, whilst keeping their diary from last week.

Alternatively, you could revisit our materials unit and explain that the things around us are all made out of different materials, such as plastic, metal, fabric, wood or glass. I have attached some slides about some different materials, how they are made and how they are used.

Ask children to look around. How many objects made from metal can you spot? How many objects made from wood can you spot? How many objects made from plastic can you spot? Encourage children to explain how they knew which materials was which.

Tell children that today you will be going on a journey to find some different materials. What different materials do you think we might find?  Explain that the things around us are all made out of different materials, such as plastic, metal, fabric, wood or glass. Go through the information on the slides about some different materials.
