It's a Kind of magic
This week we have been reading the story 'The Princess and the Wizard' by Julia Donaldson- she has written a lot of books!
The Wizard and the Princess were very good at doing magic.
This week we are going to do magic just like the magical Princess or the Wizard.
Before we can become magical, we need to prepare a few things...
The first thing that all good Wizards and Princesses need is a magic wand.
To make the magic wand you will need a variety of objects that have been alliterated. Do you know what alliteration is? Click here if you are not sure...
Can you think of anything else that you could use and make it more magical by using alliteration?
Can you turn your super stick into a magic wand by decorating it with a variety of art materials?
The Magic Words
Every good magician has a magic word or phrase.
It can be real words or made up words.
They usually have rhyming or alliteration in them. Do you remember what a rhyming word is? If not click here.
See if your parents know who said these famous magic words...

Can you have a go at making up 3 magic words or phrases and write them down.
Choose your favourite magic word or phrase and create a magical poster for it.
Make sure that the word or pharse is nice and large with magic patterns, pictures or shapes all around it.
Here is an example...
The Magic Spells
All good Wizard, Princess or Magician need magic spells.
A magic spell is a very special type of sentence that is followed by your magic words that helps make something happen.
Here are a few examples...
"Little puppet made of pine, awake. The gift of life is thine."
(The Blue fairy turning Pinocchio into a real boy)
"Higitus, figitus migitus moe, wind and snow, swirl and blow!"
(Merlin trying to clean up)
Can you think of something that you would like to do and create a spell for it?
Have a go at a few different spells. You can use the spell sheet below to help you.
There is also a spell game for you to have a go at. Have fun!
A Magic Potion
The next skills that a Wizard, Princess or Magician has to be good at is making magic potions.
Magic potions are a bit like science, you get to try out magical experiments with special mixtures.
With the help of an adult can you have a go at some magical science experiments by mixing ingredients together and seeing what happens?
There is an example of a magical experiment below, but why not try other ingredients and see what happens...
Can you record what happens in the bubbling pot sheet below.
You are now full trained in magic!
You will be able to turn Mr Bundy into a frog with the flick of your wand.
You can make Miss Evans do your work with the cast of a spell.
You can create potions that will scare Mrs Dodd and make her run away.
