Food Glorious Food
We are so lucky to have all the food we have.
Imagine if you did not have a choice of food.
Imagine if you were one of the children in this video...
What do you like to eat?
Do you eat the same food every day?
Is there a food that you do not like?
I hope that you eat a wide variety of food and I hope that you try different foods.
Can you keep a record of what you are eating this week? We call this daily record a journal or a diary.
Did you know that every single thing that you eat can be sorted into a group?
We call these groups food groups.
It is important that we eat a variety of food from each food group - although not too much of the sugary and fatty groups.
Have a look through the attached link and see if you recognise any of the food that is in each food group.
Can you go on a food group hunt?
Have a look around your kitchen and see what foods you have and which food group it belongs to.
Every meal should contain some food from a variety of food groups.
Can you create a plate of food with some food from each food group?
If you need a little bit of help you can use the printable below.
Fruits And Vegetables
Lots of you have been growing vegetables this year and it has been a pleasure to see the photos. All of which have been more successful than Miss Evans. Well done class 1!
Fruits and vegetables are VERY healthy and you should eat at least 5 a day!
Can you name as many fruits and vegetables as you can in 1 minute?
How many did you remember?
Here is a game. It is called What Am I.
You have to read the clues and guess what fruit or vegetable it is.
See how many you can get right.
Do you have a favourite fruit?
What is it?
Can you use your 5 senses to describe it?
Record your answers on the sheet below.
Use as many adjectives as you can to describe it.
Now that you have filled the sheet in, choose your three favourite descriptions.
Type them on an email, just like in the 'What Am I?' game, and send them to email@example.com .
Do not put the name of the fruit on the email.
I will do me best to guess what your favourite fruit is.
Fruit and Vegetable Art
Have a look at this very famous painting by Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
What do you see?
Can you see all of the fruit and vegetables that make up the man.
How many can you name?
Here is another painting by Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
What can you see in this painting?
Giuseppe Arcimboldo was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers and books.
Can you create a picture of yourself using fruits and vegetables?
You could draw the picture.
You could paint the picture.
You could print fruits and vegetables off the internet and stick them together.
Let your imagination grow - just like the fruits and vegetables in your picture.
