What is the difference between living and not living? Let's find out...
Living or not living activity
Can you explore your home and garden and find a variety of things that are living and not living?
Put them on the floor and write 2 labels. A label with 'living things' with one set and a label with 'not living' things with the other set.
Take a closer look
Choose 1 living thing and 1 not living thing and have a closer look at it.
Tell a member of your family what you can see. Tell them about the colours, the textures, the patterns and anything else that you can see that is interesting. If you have a magnifying glass it would be good to use it.
On a piece of paper have a go at drawing your 2 objects with lots of detail.
This is called an observational drawing or still life.
There is an artist that is very famous for his still life pictures and his name is Vincent van Gogh.
Can you use the internet to find out about him?
