Hanley Swan C of E Primary School tries to give children the best possible education by providing a diverse, exciting & stimulating curriculum across the key stages.
We have very well resourced indoor and outdoor learning environments that match the needs of the children at their various stages of school life.
At every opportunity we try to let children be children, we push to make sure every child achieves their full potential and we build on our philosophy that ‘every child matters and every day counts’.
Our curriculum is always tailored to the needs of each child so that every child can access the curriculum. It is based on statutory guidance with four core subjects: Literacy; Science; Numeracy; I.C.T.
The pupils in Reception and Year 1 receive a small group daily phonics session. At Hanley Swan we use the successful Read, Write, Inc phonics scheme.
As a Church School RE is also regarded as a key subject and is the golden thread that runs through everything that we do at Hanley Swan. Other foundation subjects are History; Geography; Music, Art, Design and Technology, Modern Foreign Language and Physical Education.
The 3 'key stages' at Hanley Swan C of E Primary School are:
The Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception or Class 1)
Key Stage 1 (Class 2) Year 1 & 2
Key Stage 2 (Class 3 and 4) Year 3, 4, 5 & 6
