In line with a project in our sister school ‘Mawei’ we have our very own school beehive. Thanks to the support of Mr Haigh we maintain and visit the hive weekly through the warmer months. Two children from each class along with a member of staff put on our special bee suits, walk to the hive and then carry out the routine checks. We open the whole hive up, check for insect intruders, observe the Queen a Bee and check out the lovely honey.
Twice a year Mrs Haigh demonstrates how to remove the honey and extracts the golden syrup in front of the whole school. We even get to have a little taster. Our honey is for sale in the school office, so please pop in and buy some.
