Modern Foreign Language Intent
At Hanley Swan, our Modern Foreign Language curriculum aims to foster a love of languages and cultural understanding among our pupils. Learning French provides children with the opportunity to develop their communication skills, both orally and in writing, while also gaining insight into French-speaking cultures. Through engaging and interactive lessons, pupils will build their confidence and enthusiasm for language learning, laying a strong foundation for future language study and global citizenship.
Modern Foreign Language
At Hanley Swan, pupils will work towards the following end points in MFL:
- Listen to and show understanding of more complex sentences in ‘authentic’ conversation, picking out specific vocabulary.
- Engage in short, scripted conversations. Speaking in longer sentences, learning to use particular sentence structures more flexibly to create own sentences.
- Children can show awareness of French culture.
