This half term our Christian Value is Kindness.

Welcome

We are a happy, family school with strong Christian values. We all work together to promote a love of learning where children succeed and reach their full potential. We hope you enjoy your visit.Hanley Swan Primary School is part of the Hanley and Upton Educational Trust

What are we doing this term?

Dear parents,

We hope that you all had a  lovely Easter break and enjoyed spending some time with your children. We are very much looking forward to this term in which we will consolidate and learn new things.  Thank you so much for your support so far and we sincerely hope this will continue. You make all the difference!

This term, we have our St Briavels residential trip; to link into this we will be learning about King John who hunted there and has other local links that the children can learn about. To further our topic, we shall write a playscript using the Jane Considine Write Stuff planning that will have adopted as a school. Initially, we will be basing our playscript on the village of Eyam in 1665 and use the BBC KS2 radio broadcast as a stimulus. This will form a model write. Following on from this, the children will then write a playscript independently  based on Robin Hood. We are sure that the children will enjoy writing and performing their own playscript. We will, of course, enjoy stories about Robin Hood and King John who ruled in medieval times.

We are continuing to encourage reading and check Home Liaison Diaries daily. Spellings will continue to be tested and set on a Friday.

In Maths, we are covering different topics outlined on the table below but it is vital that the children have a rapid recall of times tables to help them access all Maths topics. Times Tables Rock Stars is a brilliant resource to use and the children all have log ins.

We are lucky to have a cricket coach in the term, but swimming will end Monday 15th April. The children have enjoyed swimming and we have seen an increase in improvement which has been a delight!
