Welcome
We are a happy, family school with strong Christian values. We all work together to promote a love of learning where children succeed and reach their full potential. We hope you enjoy your visit.Hanley Swan Primary School is part of the Hanley and Upton Educational Trust
On Tuesday class 1 and 2 had an amazing adventure, they visited Africa and Birmingham all in one day!! We arrived in Africa just after 10:00am and the children were welcomed by a Kenyan Massai Warrior (with a real spear!!). He guided us into an African Safari and from there the children went off in groups spotting 100s of African animals. Giraffes towering over us eating bamboo. Gorillas perched on top of waterfalls. Crocodiles hiding in the swamps waiting to eat badly behaved children. Ostriches, flamingos, cheetahs, lions and herds of elephants all watching the children as they passed by. Following this the Massai Warrior invited us into his restaurant and talked about life in Kenya/Tanzania, being a Massai and he even had time to teach us some Swahili before we had lunch.
In the afternoon we had a short trip across Europe and finally arrived in a cold damp Birmingham. The children took their seats in the Town Hall and we were taken on a fabulous adventure to find a bear in Michael Rosen’s ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. The children (and adults) were thoroughly entrained as the family in the story travelled through long wavy grass, swam through a deep cold river, squelched through thick oozy mud to find the big brown bear! It was a creative, imaginative, funny and exciting show and the children loved it, especially when they were sprayed with water!!
Class 3 & 4
‘Yesterday Classes 3 and 4 went to see Wendy and Peter Pan at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, it was amazing! It was the best play we have ever seen. The setting was extremely clever; our favourite bit was the flying actors and the crocodile walking doing the splits. The production was a real pleasure to watch. We would recommend this strongly to other people. If you ever want to watch an amazing play, go to the Royal Shakespeare Company.’
Katie and Imogen, Class 4
A huge thank you to the PFA for heavily subsidising both trips and an even bigger thank you to the children whose behaviour was impeccable. Every one of them was a credit to the school and their families.
